Here is some info copied from our old forum. Post originally made by Vince Sharpe.
Alright...
In the past two years of playing with some of the best players in the maritimes, I have learned a ________ load, and now i'm gonna post it up for you new guys that are coming to the sport, or have been playing for a while..
When your not playing, and your home, got nothing to do......here are some great little drills you should be doing (without shooting your gun) caus we all know how mothers love paint on their walls
1. Reloading........
- Reloading is a HUGE part of paintball, and the only real way to reload is always have your gun up, and dump your pod in the hopper...NEVER take your gun down..... so
When your home, grab your gun, screw in your tank, put the hopper on...and have a pod full of paint......then get in the stance that you would be in while your playing, and keep your gun up, and try to reload...once you got that done...do it again, and again, and again, and again for about 20-30 minutes......
This is a major thing, you should be able to reload your gun within seconds
2. Snap Shooting
- Now don't SHOOT in your house...but what you can do is line yourself up to a corner of your wall...and start moving back/forth to get a sway movement going.....moving your body back and forth with the bunkers (in this case the wall) will eventually help you speed up and snap your enemy in the face, pwnin his ***...Or use a mirror reason being below
Also this helps you because you can figure out with your mirror, how far you are actually coming out of your bunker. you want to show as little as you can when your shooting at the other player.....
3. Know your gun...
- Read everything you can about your gun, so you know how to fix it when it goes down, how to lube it....you show up to a tournament and your gun breaks, you got little time to fix it......a major!!!!!
4. Switching hands..
- A BIG THING RIGHT HERE....An excellent paintball player can shoot his gun with both hands........and everyone should be able to do this...if you can't here is what you can do..
Use tape....tape your weaker hand to your gun and practice practice practice holding/shooting your gun..........I hate when I see people shooting only one way....you must learn to shoot with both hands......
5. Keep your gun between your eyes...
- You should never shoot from your chest, from your hips, sideways, or any other fawked up way you shoot...
Your back end of your gun should be right between your eyes, and your tank should meet where your shoulder is........so you know exactly where your paint is going it hit.........ALWAYS HAVE YOUR GUN BETWEEN YOUR EYES...
6. Practice, Practice, Practice...
Like it says, if you want to play paintball for a long time, and want to play against the best guys...you gatta practice........
When you goto your field, practice everything your weak in....why shoot with your good hand, when you could be practicing with your weaker hand.....
Remember it's a practice, it doesnt matter if you loose every game, or get shot everytime you play in practice...that's all it is, it's a PRACTICE...
Well that's my little rant for you guys as of right now.... I do this almost every day, and trust me it does make you a better player...
I'll see you guys soon!!!
Take Care
